I've found the automatic to be pretty bulletproof however it saps up alot of the engines power before putting it to the wheels. Some say the manual is better because it is faster but it isn't as strong.

It should be fine. I've had two and not had any trouble with either. These Auto transmissions were built to handle alot.

i have personally blown 2 of them, i have a 1.6 lanos. but that was with me driving like a total ass 24/7. the 4t40e auto tranny in the lanos is a VERY good tranny, its built by gm, its the same tranny used in cavaliar z24 and sunfire sport. its a strong tranny as long as your not a total ass all day long on the road. even though i have blown 2 i still bought another auto lanos. my problem wasnt the car, it was the driver (me)

I'm fairly certain all Lanos Automatics used the 4t40e.

Also all US Daewoo's were built in Korea as well.
