Think we need a general gearbox sticky. Not telling people what types of gearboxes there are, but general maintainance, where things are on the gearbox, what the differences are in some, how to tell if it's a long or short ratio box, or where the code is that tells ya the ratio, how to change internals etc, all under the one roof so to speak. It might take a while for all the info, but i reckon it'd be a really valuable reference point.
